Legal advice relating to the steps which should be taken to file a criminal and a civil case regarding the Central Bank bond issue, was supplied to the Prime Minister’s Office yesterday, Attorney General Jayantha Jayasuriya, PC said.
Legal action which the Central Bank could take at the Monetary Board level in this matter was also notified to the Prime Minister’s Office, he said.
The Attorney General said the Prime Minister’s Office was also informed about the need to investigate the evidence recorded by the COPE Committee.
A three member committee appointed by the Attorney General’s Department is now studying the matter in detail, he said.
