The Police Headquarters has denied reports that orders were given to restrict Police news to private media institutions.
In a press release the Police headquarters said reports that the Police would no longer disseminate news to private media organizations was false.
The press release said: ‘A rumour has spread over the past few days that the Inspector General of Police has instructed that information to non-governmental media organizations is restricted.’
‘We wish to inform you that no such order was given by IGP Pujith Jayasundara.’
