A 55-year-old coconut plucker in Parussella who tried to get intimate with a good looking married woman at a home he visited searching for custom, had to end up in remand custody, a report from Yatiyantota stated.
The man who used to visit door to door in the area to earn a living by plucking coconuts had visited a house in the area one morning to seek work. When he tapped at the door, a beautiful woman had opened the door and he had inquired after her mother and children.
When the woman said the mother had gone to the doctor and the children are in school and that she was all alone, the man had said it was fine. When the woman inquired as to why he said it was fine, he had caught the woman’s hand and made an improper request. The woman who was furious had quickly run inside and come out with a broom and assaulted the man with the broomstick. The woman had also called her husband on the phone and complained about her encounter with the man.
The husband who returned home after work made a bee line to the Yatiynatota Police with the wife and lodged a complaint against the man.
Police arrested the suspect who is a well known figure in the area.
The suspect was later produced before the Yatiyantota Magistrate and remanded till December 28.
