The Special Commodity Levy on imported white sugar has been increased from Rs. 7 to Rs.13 by Rs 6 per 1 kg with effect from yesterday, the Finance Ministry announced.
The Ministry spokesman said sugar prices in the market would be unaffected even though the levy was increased as there is a controlled price for sugar.
