Dummaladooriya Police acting on a tip-off checked a van plying on a by road in Dunakadeniya on suspicion and arrested two persons in possession of nearly 148 grammes of heroin.
Police also took the van into custody.
Police said one suspect is from Jampettah street, Colombo and the other is a resident of Dunakadeniya. On interrogation they had said the heroin was brought from Colombo to be delivered to a resident of Dunakadeniya leaving for Qatar, to be taken with him.
The suspects were produced before the Kuliyapitiya Magistrate and obtained a detention order for further investigations.
