Youth nabbed with forged notes worth over Rs. 30, 000

 

A 23-year-old was arrested in Anuradhapura yesterday, for trading false note worth Rs. 33, 000.

The haul comprised 05 five thousand rupee notes and 08 thousand rupee notes.

He was arrested when the manager of a reputed company – at which he had attempted to launder the money – spotted the forgery and notified the police.

On interrogation, the suspect had first revealed that he had bought the false notes two months ago for five thousand rupees.

Further interrogation revealed however that the suspect had printed the notes himself using a printer, found at his residence today (22).

The youth is a resident of Dahayyagama, Anuradhapura.

His father is a deputy commissioner at a government firm, but the young man is said to be an alcoholic.
