“It is the duty of Government sector officials to carry out orders given by politicians. This is the reality in Sri Lanka and any other country in the world,” Home Affairs Minister Wajira Abeywardena said.
The minister was speaking at a function in Malimboda, Matara recently.
“Although some believe that the Government Service and politicians are separate entities, that is not so. Government Servants are bound to carry out the orders given by their Ministers who they themselves elected. It is the political leadership that appoint Secretaries to each and every Ministry when a new government comes to power”
“It is the government servants that cast their votes in advance as postal voters.
It is they who give the
first indication of who will win the election and who will obtain the highest number of preferential votes from each party. It has been observed that this theory has held true at every past election,” he added.
