Visiting South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung–se yesterday said that Sri Lankans have become heroes in South Korea after an elderly woman in Gunui,North of Gyeongsang Province who was trapped in a house fire was rescued by a Sri Lankan youth.
The Foreign Minister commended the services of Sri Lankans working in South Korea.Byung –se said that his country is interested in investing in research and development, Information Technology and Education fields He said that South Korea is keen in investing in the Megapolis Project.
The visiting Foreign Minister announced support to the people affected by the drought too.
He expressed these sentiments when he called on Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at Temple Trees yesterday.
The South Korean Foreign Minister also lauded the effort of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to promote national reconciliation after the end of protracted war.
He said that his country is aiming at further strengthening ties between two nations.
Prime Minister Wickremesinghe while reminiscing the sound relations between the two nations sought South Korean assistance to modernise the National Institute of Education, and upgrading e library services and vocational education.
South Korean ambassador in Sri Lanka Chang Won Sam was also present.
