President Maithripala Sirisena met with Pakistan Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua at the Presidential Secretariat this afternoon.
At the meeting the President has emphasized the need to expand economic relations between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
He had pointed out that Pakistan could invest in the sugar and cement industries, as there is a requirement in these areas in Sri Lanka.
Foreign Secretary Janjua had promised Pakistan would continue to assist Sri Lanka forge deeper economic and trade relationship between the two countries.
Janjua, who is on a two-day visit to Sri Lanka to attend the 5th bilateral political consultation between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, is due to leave the country tomorrow (18).
