The ‘Shankar’s International Children’s Competition 2017,’ in the categories of writing, painting and drawing, is open to children all over world born on or after January 1st 2002.
To commemorate Children’s Day, which falls on November 14 every year, coinciding with the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) in Colombo will organize painting, drawing and writing competition for children on Saturday, November 11 from 9.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m at the Indian Cultural Centre, 16/2 Gregory’s Road, Colombo 7.
Children who are interested in participating may register their names with the Centre (Tel: 011-2684698, Telefax: 2684697, e-mail: iccrcolombo2@gmail.com) and are requested to come to ICC at 9.00 am on November 11.
The competition was started in 1949 by late Shri Shankar Pillai, a celebrated cartoonist and recipient of several awards including Padma Shri and Padma Vibhushan.
The international participation in the competition has increased greatly over the years with children from over 130 countries participating and winning prizes.
