President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday said the Government would announce its stand on the SAITM within next few days.
He said any problem could be resolved through discussions, dialogue and information sharing.
The President was addressing the gathering after unveiling the Ran Veta (golden fence) of the Thibiripola Sri Abhinawaramaya Temple, Dehiowita yesterday,.
“Division and separation will impede rebuilding the country. When problems arise, all should join together and resolve them,” he said. He said issues over the development could be solved collectively.
The President said 2018 was declared as the National Food Production year to alleviate poverty and uplift the economy of the down-trodden.
“We started the Grama Shakthi Movement to uplift rural poverty-stricken people,” he said.
He called on all citizens to shed their petty differences and join together to make the programme a success.
Dehiowita, Thibiripola Sri Abhinawaramaya Chief Incumbent Ven. Udagama Dhammathilake Thera and Amarapura Maha Nikaya Mahanayake Most Ven. Kotugoda Dhammawasa Thera delivered anusasanas. Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Deputy Minister Dushmantha Mithrapala, Parliamentarian Thusitha Wijemanna were present.
