The National Vap Magul Ceremony was held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena at the Tissamaharama Sandagirigoda paddy tract situated near the Tissamaharama Dagoba yesterday morning. The President also distributed seed paddy and fruit plants among farmers to mark the occasion. The Maha Sangha, dignitaries of other religious denominations and Chamal Rajapaksa, Mahinda Amaraweera, Shan Wijeyalal de Silva, Angajan Ramanathan, and Cader Masthan were also present on the occasion. The Maha Sangha, led by Viharadhpati Ven. Dr. Devalegama Dhammasena Nayake Thera, chanted seth pirith and invoked blessings on the President and the Prime Minister. MPs Chamal Rajapaksa and Mahinda Amaraweera were also present. Pictures by Sudath Silva.
