Giving reasons for his renewed deflection to the UNP after yesterday’s chaotic Parliamentary session, Polonnaruwa District UNP MP Wasantha Senanayaka, who had joined Maithripala-Mahinda government recently and had taken a ministerial post, yesterday said he joined Maithripala-Mahinda government because his apparent observation was that the majority of Parliament were with them, and he could serve his people in Polonnaruruwa through their government.
“I joined the government based on the belief that the majority was with the government,”he said.
“I decided to come back to the United National Party because majority seemed to be with them. On the contrary I have never left my party,” he said.
“I am going to meet the President because I plan to give my resignation to him as a minister,” he said.
