Robber gang arrested

A three member gang that had robbed Rs.170,000 from a businessman on the pretext of asking him to donate money to help save the life of a cancer patient were nabbed by the Negombo Divisional Crime Investigation Unit.

The suspects who are in the age groups of 32 to 36 hqve been identified as drug adicts. However, a motor bike which had been used by the suspects to commit the crime was seized by Police.

According to Police, the victimiSed businessman is a resident of Pallanchena in Kochchikade.

Officer in Charge of the Negombo Crime Investigation Unit, Chief Inspector Sampath Dissanayake had arrived at the home of the businessman along with a police team and had managed to track down the culprits who are residents of the Kochchikade Police Division.

The suspects were to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate by the Negombo Divisional Crime Investigation Unit.
