Kurunegala Magistrate Sampath Hewawasam released an Officer-in-Charge of a private security firm after subjecting him for two surety bails worth Rs. 100,000.
The suspect was accused of sexually molesting a female security officer under his supervision.
An Officer-in-Charge was taken into custody by Kurunegala Police.
According to the complaint, the OIC had promised that he would find foreign employment for her through the contacts of his sister who lives abroad.
The woman was asked to come with the OIC to a studio to take some photographs of her to send his sister for preliminary proceedings related to foreign employment. However, after taking photographs, the OIC had requested her to face for some pictures with him too for which she had agreed. After taking the pictures, the OIC had asked her to come with him to go to a hotel room and she had agreed to that as well.
After they went into the hotel room, the woman had been sexually abused by the Officer-in-Charge. She had lodged a complaint regarding the incident with Kurunegala Police, after she managed to get away. According to her complaint, Kurunegala Police arrested the OIC and produced him before Kurunegala Magistrate Sampath Hewawasam.
Police are investigating.
