Two persons held on charges of drug trafficking were remanded until February I2 by Dambulla District Magistrate I.M.S.B. Illangasingha on Friday.
They were taken into custody by Galewela Police on a tip-off, with 7.6 kilos of heroin in their possession, while they were travelling in a luxury vehicle.
Later, another 1.9 kilos of heroin was detected hidden in two places on the way.
According to the police, the suspects had been engaged in drug trafficking for a considerable period of time, using the Easy Cash system.
The suspects are H.W. Mahinda Sampath and R.P. Ranga Pradeep Kumara Abeysingha, residents of Weuda and Puswalatenna.
