Deputy Solicitor General (DSG) Dileepa Peiris yesterday informed court that CID investigations had revealed that singer Amal Perera's wife had called her husband in Dubai Prison explaining the prevailing situation into the VIP assassination case.
DSG Peiris appearing on behalf the Attorney General told the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court that Amal Perera had received the said telephone call when he was with criminal Makandure Madhush.
He said this information had been revealed by Amal Perera’s son Nadeemal Perera when he was questioned by the CID.
Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris appearing on behalf of the Attorney General’s Department made this remark when the magisterial inquiry into the case filed against former Terrorist Investigations Division (TID) DIG Nalaka de Silva was taken up before Colombo Fort Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake.
DSG Peiris also submitted a substantial evidence report containing 31 pages before court. The report contains deleted mobile phone conversations retrieved from Namal Kumara’s mobile phone and the status of DIG Nalaka Silva.
The DSG further told court that Amal Perera, who was arrested with criminal Makandure Madhush in Dubai was deported to Sri Lanka last morning and they will take necessary measures to record statements from him. The DSG pleaded to allow the CID to record statements from actor Ryan Van Rooyan.
On a previous occasion, Counsel Ajith Pathirana stated that Namal Kumara had submitted forged educational certificates to join the Sri Lanka Army and the Air Force.The Magistrate had instructed the CID to take legal action Namal Kumara.
