Issuing a media release the Department of Government Information notes that President Maithripala Sirisena has informed the Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission to lift the social media ban with immediate effect, which was imposed in the aftermath of the Easter Sunday terror attacks.
The temporary ban came into effect following last Sunday’s deadly Easter bombings.
