Case against Mahindananda Aluthgamage fixed for August 10

A corruption case filed against former Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage for allegedly committing a Rs. 53.1 million fraud while importing sports equipment during last the Presidential Election, was today postponed for August 10 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne.

When the case was taken up before the colombo chief magistrate court, Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption's Deputy Director General (Legal) Ganga Heiyanthuduwa appearing on behalf of the prosecution informed the court that they sought Chief Justice 's approval to transfer this case to the Permanant High Court trial at bar.
