Court permits to detain NTJ Colombo organizer for 72 hours

The Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne today permitted Keselwatte Police to detain and question, the National Thawheed Jamaath (NTJ) organisation’s Colombo District organizer Mohomed Farook Mohomed Fawaz, for a period of 72 hours under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.

The suspect was identified as Mohomed Farook Mohomed Fawaz, 38, a resident of Sooriyamahal Housing Scheme, Prince Gate in Hulftsdorp.

The Keselwatta police informed court that they had seized 67 stickers of the National Thaheed Jamaath (NTJ), pen drives and mobile phones during the arrest.

Police also stated that they had recovered several photographs and video clips of the bomb blasts that took place on several places from the suspect's mobile phone.

It was revealed that several photographs of the bomb that had taken place on the Sunday morning had been found on the suspect's phone

The suspect had been severed as an A/C electrician. The Chief Magistrate fixed further inquiries for May 02.
