FR files over bomb blasts on Easter Sunday

A Fundamental Rights petition was today filed in the Supreme Court seeking an order directing the Attorney General to institute criminal action against President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe, Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa, former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and IGP Pujith Jayasundara for their alleged negligence to prevent coordinated series of suicide bomb attacks on several churches and hotels in Colombo on Easter Sunday Morning (21).

Public litigation activist Nagananda Kodituwakku who was suspended from practicing as lawyer for three years by the Supreme Court filed this petition naming President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe, Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa, former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando, IGP Pujith Jayasundara and Attorney General Jayantha Jayasuriya and several others as respondents.
