Tissa Attanayake discharged from indictments

The Colombo High Court today ordered to discharge UNP former General Secretary Tissa Attanayake from the case filed against him for allegedly displaying a fraudulent document to the media during the last Presidential Election for the purpose of affecting the result of then Common Candidate Maithripala Sirisena.

Attorney General decided to withdraw the indictments following defence decision to tender their apology to both President and Prime Minister over presenting a forged document to media during the last Presidential Election.

The Court was informed through the parties that both President and Prime Minister had expressed their willingness to  take shortcuts measures to terminate case proceedings initiated against UNP former General Secretary Tissa Attanayake, on the condition that accused Attanayake should apologize over alleged fraudulent document case.
