Army personnel attached to the 5 Division have taken a person allegedly into custody with 150 kilograms of cannabis yesterday following a search operation carried out on a tip-off in the Chalei area in Elephant Pass.
According to the army sources of 55 Division, the suspect was taken into custody while taking photographs with a camera phone of the cannabis, which apprehended by the Army personnel. The Army personnel have revealed that the suspect has sent those photos at that moment itself to two foreign individuals in India and in another Asian country.
The suspect has been handed over to the Special Task Force for further investigations. Army personnel suppose that this cannabis smuggling racket may be traced by questioning the suspect.
