The second Permanent High Court-at-Bar set up to hear high-profile financial frauds and corruption cases yesterday began its maiden hearing against a former specialist doctor at the Kuliyapitiya Base Hospital.
The Permanent High Court yesterday served indictments against Dr. Chandrasiri Tennakoonwela for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.75,000 at the hospital premises.
The accused was ordered to be released on two sureties of Rs.500,000 each by Trial-at-Bar bench comprising High Court Judges R. Gurusinghe, Shashi Mahendran and Amal Ranaraja.
The Bribery Commission had filed indictments against specialist doctor for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.75,000 on or around July 3, 2016 from a laboratory owner of a private laboratory in the Kuliyapitiya area.
