The 13 suspects remanded in connection with the damage caused to Buddha statues in Mawanella and surrounding areas in December, were further remanded till May 20.
They were produced before the Mawanella Magistrate and District Judge Upul Rajakaruna yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Attorney General’s Department appearing on behalf of the CID said the two main suspects wanted in connection with vandalising the Buddha statues have also been arrested by police in Gampola.
They had been arrested in connection with the Easter Sunday terror attacks and are currently being detained under CID custody for questioning.
The court was informed that these two suspects are to be produced following the conclusion of questioning by the CID. The vandalising of Buddha statues took place between December 23 and December 25.
