Chairman of Beliatta Pradeshiya Sabha Cyril Munasinghe has been arrested by the Police after surrendering to the police..
The arrest was made in connection over assaulting a former Pradeshiya Sabha member on the 18th of July.
The suspect is to be produced before the Tangalle Magistrate’s Court today.
Beliatta Police are carrying out further investigations.
