The Ella Police yesterday arrested an individual who had given false information to Police Emergency about an imminent attack on Parliament.
The suspect had informed Police Emergency on the 119 hotline that an attack on Parliament was ‘imminent’ and that it was planned by 8 persons in a mosque in Pettah, police sources disclosed.
Police started immediate investigations on receipt of this information and found that the complainant had given false information.
Police said that this person in question is staying at a rented house. He had obtained a SIM card using the National Identity card of the owner of the house.
