Two persons apprehend during counter drug operation by Navy and Police


During a special counterdrug operation carried out by the Navy and Police in Trincomalee, two persons were apprehended for possession and sale of drugs.

Accordingly, the Eastern Naval Command and Trincomalee Division Vice Squad, during a joint raid carried out in Trincomalee area, found 506 modhaka pills to be sold by illegal means in a retail store and apprehended the shop owner who is a resident in the same area, aged 31.

 Further investigation also revealed that he is a drug dealer in the region.

During the same operation, the raiding party has intercepted a suspicious three-wheeler on the road and found 65g of Kerala Cannabis in the possession of the person traveling on the three-wheeler.

Subsequently, the suspect was held and the three-wheeler was taken into custody. The suspect has been identified as a resident of Vilankulama in Trincomalee, aged 31.

The Division Vice Squad is conducting further investigation into the incidents.

Meanwhile, under the able guidance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, the Navy has been conducting counterdrug operations in the country and off shore in a bit to put a stop to the drug menace that scourges the society.
