A 36-year-old mother of three was arrested by Hambegamuwa police following the recovery of her live newborn baby whom she had left in a thicket close to their home.
Police sources revealed that the mother had left the baby on Wednesday at 9:30pm that evening before departing back to her home. It was revealed that the mother is a resident of Ratambalagama.
Residents upon hearing the cries of the baby alerted the police through the emergency hotline. The mother was subsequently arrested while the baby was admitted to the Hambegamuwa hospital.
