Four Sri Lanka Airforce personnel including two officers died when Y 12 surveillance aircraft crashed in Haputale yesterday morning. The aircraft was flying from Weerawila Airforce Base to Ratmalana Air base when the accident took place.
Police said that the aircraft has crashed into a barren land thus avoiding major damages to the civilians and their property
Airforce Spokesman Group Captain Gihan Seneviratne said, a special investigation team consisting of experts of Sri Lanka Air Force has been appointed to look into the caused that led to the crash .
"This experts team is presently conducting a through investigation to ascertain what has caused to the crash and we are waiting the outcome of the investigation", he said
