Previous government left people’s needs unattended

Ports, Shipping and Highway Minister Johnston Fernando said the politicians in power from 2005 to 2019 failed to cater to people's needs.

He was addressing the gathering after commissioning the Probation and Childcare Building built at a cost of Rs. 69 million in Kurunegala recently. Minister Johnston Fernando said that the government will uplift the livelihoods of the people in the province and upgrade the infrastructure facilities including drinking water, health, road development and electricity.

He said the last UNP government failed to cater to the people's needs. “This government has a vision to develop the country and restore peace and unity in the country,” the Minister said.

He said the officials’ duty is to extend their fullest cooperation to strengthen the president's hands to go ahead.

He said Kurunegala is the second largest economic hub in the country. The Minister said the Tourist Board will support to develop four kingdoms of Wayamba.

He said his ministry will construct fly-over bridges at popular schools in Kurunegala.

North Western Province (NWP) Governor A.J.M. Muzammil and several other officials participated.
