Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) General Secretary and former Kurunegala MP Dayasiri Jayasekara said the SLFP Central Working Committee will expel former SLFP MP and former Cabinet Minister Vijith Vijithamuni Soysa and several other SLFP councillors of local bodies from the party for breaking party’s regulations.
He was speaking at a press briefing in Kurunegala yesterday.
The SLFP Central Working Committee met on March 12 under the SLFP leader and former President Maithripala Sirisena at the SLFP headquarters, Dayasiri added.
SLFP Senior Deputy Chairman Prof. Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa told Daily News that the Committee approved the SLFP leader’s proposal to enter into a MoU with the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) to contest the forthcoming election.
