Former Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne was arrested today (13) after he surrendered to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Police Spokesman SL Jaliya Senaratne confirmed.
The CID was preparing to produce him before courts this evening.
The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court today (13) ordered the CID to produce the former minister before court after the Colombo High Court yesterday dismissed the decision of the Colombo Magistrate’s Court granting bail to the former MP over the controversial “white van” press conference.
Former Minister Senaratne led the controversial white van press briefing and as he was scheduled to be arrested, the Colombo Chief Magistrate granted him bail on December 30th despite the objection of the Attorney General.
