Samsung offers the ultimate Esports encounter for gamers during stay-at-home period

Generating excitement and positivity over the last few weeks, ‘Samsung Online Esports showdown’, the ultimate gamers’ event attracted over 2,200 gamers, while the Samsung Members’ exclusive Esports event, attracted 460+ players for the play-off as part of the Esports showdown – all from the safety of their homes! Samsung partnered with Gamer.lk to organize these two popular Esports events to the delight of fans across Sri Lanka, as besides keeping participants engaged and entertained, over 75,000 people watched these events online for hours of viewing pleasure. Samsung is playing a pivotal role in driving popularity of Esports in Sri Lanka through such events. In addition, Samsung organized online activities such as competitions, tips and tricks to be proactive with technology at home, work from home tips, educational videos, health-related content, entertainment content etc., during lockdown to ensure people remain active and engaged through this challenging time as a part of their ‘Stay Apart, Stay Together’ campaign. This was Samsung Sri Lanka’s response to the challenge of keeping people enthusiastic. Esports fans engaged in various activities to make the extended stay at home period easier to navigate and to support the national effort. Commenting on the popularity of the online gaming event, the Managing Director of Samsung Sri Lanka, Mr. Kevin Sungsu YOU says, “The success of the recent Esports events demonstrates that Samsung is keeping the spirit of Esports alive in Sri Lanka by delivering innovation and setting new benchmarks in Esports technology in the country. In the current context of the need to stay safely at home, these events encouraged gamers and spectators to stay at home and spend hours being entertained by the gaming showdown. Samsung is proud to spearhead Esports in Sri Lanka while carving out a greater share of the market as Sri Lanka’s No. 1 smartphone brand.” Organized together with Gamer.lk, the Samsung Esports showdown was a major online tournament featuring 10 popular titles to compete for. The Esports showdown for Samsung members was held under the ambit of the main event and attracted enthusiastic Samsung users. In fact, registration for the members’ Esports event was via the Samsung Members App, which is pre-installed in all new models or available to be downloaded on Playstore. The app-based community space is exclusively for Samsung users to provide solutions, share experiences and tips & tricks and discuss product features. Users could find expert advice, diagnose issues related to Samsung devices, or directly ask any user about anything related to Samsung devices. Mr. YOU further added “Samsung offers the most advanced technology for superior Esports by incorporating the top needs of gamers and then integrating them through features such as the Game Booster to enhance the Esports experience for the estimated 3 million plus video games enthusiasts in the country. As is evident from Samsung technology, customers are at the heart of every innovation as it caters to the evolving lifestyle needs of the younger generation to mirror their energy and passion.
