Justice, Human Resources and Legal Reforms Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said that the government attention has been drawn to shift the death sentenced prisoners or convicted of serious crimes to an island in Batticaloa.
He mentioned this at a press conference held yesterday.
The Minister said that the Health Department is taking measures to take over the island to the Prisons Department.
There are only two leprosy patients in the island receiving treatment and they too are in the process of recovery
