Chicken Chow Mein | Cooking with Aunty D

Combined with some crisp veggies and the delicious Chow Mein sauce, this dish will stop you picking up the phone to order takeout!

 

Ingredients : 

Chicken 200g

Pepper 1 Tsp

Salt 3/4 Tsp

Soy Sauce 1 Tsp

Baking Soda 1/Tsp

Maggi Family Pack

Sauce : 

Chicken Stock 1/4 cup

Soy Sauce 1 Tsp

Pepper 1/2 Tsp

Salt 1/2 Tsp

Sesame oil 1/4 Tsp

Oyster Sauce 1 Tbsp

Sugar 1/2 Tsp

Cornflour 1 Tsp

Vegetable Oil 3 Tbsp

Oil 1 Tbsp + 1 Tbsp

Garlic 1 Tsp

Ginger 1/2 Tsp

Red Chilli 3 Nos

Vegetables – Cabbage, carrots, pakchoy

 

Method :

  1. Cut boneless chicken to small strips.
  2. Marinate chicken with pepper, soy sauce, salt and baking soda ( Baking soda softens the texture of the chicken) and let sit for 10 minutes.
  3. Add two cakes of noodles from Maggi Family Pack to boiling water. Let boil for 2 minutes and drain.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and add garlic, ginger, red chilli and vegetables. Saute for 2 to 3 minutes.
  5. Add boiled noodles and the sauce (see below for recipe). Mix well.

 

Sauce

  1. Pour chicken stock into a bowl and add soy sauce, pepper, salt, sesame oil, oyster sauce, sugar, cornflour and vegetable oil. Mix well.
