Eight including an officer attached to the Department of Excise were today arrested with a haul of drugs known as ‘ICE’ worth of about Rs 6 lakhs in the area of Puttalam.
Investigations have revealed that the arrested suspect is a constable of the Anuradhapura Excise Office.
The suspects (including 5 women) had also come with the constable to buy drugs were reportedly arrested.
The suspects are residents of Kekirawa, Anuradhapura.
The arrested suspect will be produced before the Puttalam Magistrate's Court today.
Further investigations are being carried out by the Police.
