The restoration of the building with an archaeological value that was demolished in Kurunegala recently has been estimated at Rs. 9 million.
The estimation has been projected as the initial reconstruction and restoration cost by the Ministry of Buddhasasana and Cultural Affairs.
The Ministry said a decision was taken to restore the site following discussions with the Anu Nayaka Theros and other high ranking officials from the Departments Cultural Affairs and Archaeology.
An initial costing has been estimated following discussions with various stakeholders and the building’s structure will be drawn up as well.
Funds will be raised in collaboration with the Wayamba Provincial Council, Kurunegala Municipal Council, Central Cultural Fund, and the Government, the Ministry elaborated.
The Ministry of Buddhasasana and Cultural Affairs further said that the complete report on the demolished building will be submitted to the Prime Minister following the 05 August General Elections. (Newswire)
