UPDATE:
An accomplice of underworld figure ‘Angoda Lokka’ was arrested by the officers of the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) yesterday.
The Police Media Division said 42kgs of heroin were found in the possession of the suspect. The Police also found three T-56 firearms, 170 bullets, and 9 mm pistol in his possession.
He was arrested at a house in Ambatale on information received during interrogation of another suspect, who was arrested by the CCD on Sunday at the BIA, for his alleged connection with ‘underworld don ‘Angoda Lokka’.
‘Angoda Lokka’ is presumed to have been killed while hiding in India. Security Forces of India are currently probing into the alleged death of the underworld kingpin.
Meanwhile, a couple was arrested yesterday in Suwarapola, Piliyandala in possession of 75g of heroin on a tip off received by the Police.
The two suspects (aged 39 and 43) were residents of Moratumulla and were packing heroin at a house they had taken on rent.The suspects were to be produced before the Kesbewa Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
