The final Randoli Perahera of the Kandy Esala Perahera will parade today (3). A specialty of the final Randoli Perahara is the caparisoned ceremonial Tusker carries the Sacred Tooth Relic casket, walking along a cloth carpet, under an ornate raised canopy.
The procession will set out from Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of Tooth Relic) at 7.14 pm facing the south direction following the traditional rituals and will proceed along Dalada street, Yatinuwara street, Kanda street and D.S Senanayake street.
After the final Randoli Perahera, it will proceed to the Gedige Viharaya to place the casket containing the Tooth Relics there. The Devale Perahera will then proceed to the Getambe ferry point for the water cutting ceremony.
Following the water cutting ceremony, the Day Perahera will parade the streets of Kandy tomorrow (4) at 10.15 am.
