Prison officials recovered 19 mobile phones which were found hidden in the Colombo Remand Prison premises, yesterday.
The raid in which they were discovered was carried out following a tip-off.
Moreover, as mobile phones, SIM cards, weapons, and drugs were found thrown over the walls of several prisons on several occasions in the past, the Prison Department decided to construct a 15-foot fence to prevent any such act.
