190 foreign players to fight for 30 spots in LPL auction

A total of 190 overseas players have shown interest to play in the upcoming Lanka Premier League (LPL) T20 tournament, Sri Lanka Cricket CEO Ashley de Silva said.

“There are about 190 overseas players who have shown interest to play in the LPL. A lot of them are high profile players. Out of 190 only 30 will get picked. By 7 September we will share the names of the franchise owners after that hopefully by the end of September they will go for the auction of players,” De Silva told Daily FT Newspaper.

30 players from the 190 players shown interest will be picked in an auction, he added.

Each team is entitled to 6 foreign players in a squad of 16 but only a maximum of 4 can play at any given time. h

The 5 team T20 tournament is scheduled to take place from 14 November to 8 December in Sri Lanka.
