The Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) probing the Easter Sunday attacks has issued notices on former President Maithripala Sirisena, his Private Secretary Sameera De Silva and three Auxiliary Bishops of the Archdiocese of Colombo to appear before the Commission at 10.30 a.m today (24). This is with regard to the media statements issued by Sameera De Silva and three Auxiliary Bishops pertaining to the evidence made before the Presidential Commission.
The former President’s Private Secretary Sameera De Silva had issued a media statement through his Facebook page alleging that former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando had provided a false statement before the Commission.
Meanwhile, three Auxiliary Bishops had issued a media release condemning a statement allegedly given to the Commission by Samagi Jana Balawegaya Parliamentrian Harin Fernando on September 16.
President’s Counsel Maithri Gunarathne appearing on behalf of the Sameera De Silva said that his client had removed the facebook post following the instructions given by the former President. President’s Counsel Maithri Gunarathne also apologised from the Commission about the media statement issued by his client.
