A father of one undergoing quarantine at a hotel in the Nuwara-Eliya Town has died, the spokesman for the Nuwara-Eliya General Hospital said.
The 56-year-old man has been identified as a resident of Kotugoda, Ja- Ela.
The man, who was employed as a Human Resources Officer in a private company, is said to have resigned from his job prior to the COVID-19 pandemic awaiting his return to Sri Lanka.
However, due to a lack of flights to return to Sri Lanka, he had returned on 01 September and had undergone quarantine at a hotel in Nuwara-Eliya.
The man, identified as a heart patient and a diabetic, had died at the Nuwar-Eliya General Hospital as a result of the disinfectant used as part of COVID-19 prevention process entering a wound on his leg.
The funeral of the diseased took place under COVID-19 guidelines today. (NewsWire)
