The Gampaha Magistrate’s Court today further remanded former Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) SSP Shani Abeysekara and two others who were arrested for allegedly fabricating evidence in a case, until October 16.
Eight suspects including former Police DIG Vaas Gunawardena, his wife, and son were arrested, after they were identified as suspects in the murder of businessman Mohamed Siyam in 2013.
Later, investigations were held into Gunawardena’s alleged illegal possession of weapons.
