The global tally for confirmed cases of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 climbed above 41.1 million, according to data aggregated by Johns Hopkins University, while the death toll rose above 1.13 million.
The virus is surging in many regions and some countries that had apparent success in suppressing initial outbreaks are also seeing infections rise again.
