The Prime Minister’s Office has refuted media reports claiming that an official attached to the Prime Minister’s security detail had contracted the coronavirus.
Issuing a statement, the Prime Minister’s Office said that no officer deployed at the Prime Minister’s Office, Temple Trees, or residence in Wijerama Mawatha in Colombo had tested positive.
However, an officer attached to the external unit of the Prime Minister’s security detail had contracted the virus and had not reported to duty since 17th October, the statement added.
The Prime Minister’s Office added that the infected officer is only engaged in providing security for outdoor events attended by the Prime Minister. (NewsWire)
