Curfew lifting : PHI union says not recommended

The Public Health Inspectors Union says they are not recommending to lift the current curfew that is imposed in the Western Province.

PHI Union President Upul Rohana says there is  a high risk of the coronavirus spreading to other provinces if the curfew is lifted.

He also said that Colombo city and Wattala have been identified as high risk Covid areas so action should be taken to limit travel as much as possible.

Meanwhile, Army Commander Lt Gen Shavendra Silva said that lifting or further imposing quarantine curfew in Western Province will be taken after evaluating the situation this evening.

Army Commander is due to make a special statement at 4pm.

Police have already announced that 84 organizations/sectors in the country can use their office IDs as a curfew pass for official work. (NewsWire)
