The Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Sigiriya Tourism Police station Upali Karunaratne has died due to a sudden illness.
According to Police, the OIC had died while traveling towards the Sigiriya lion’s paw for official duty.
The Police officer had been taken to the Sigiriya Hospital but had died upon admission.
The deceased officer has been identified as a resident of Galewala.
The Police said they believe that Police officer had died due to a heart attack, his PCR test returned Negative. (NewsWire)
