The number of people who have recovered from COVID-19 in Sri Lanka crossed 33,000 mark yesterday.
According to the statistics of the Epidemiology Unit, the total number of coronavirus recoveries reported in the country increased to 33,221.
The total number of COVID positive cases detected from the country reached 41,054 and 7642 of them are still under medical care.
Meanwhile, the country confirmed four deaths on Sunday due to COVID-19 raising the death toll from the viral disease to 191.
The National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated that the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda garment factory employees and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster stands at 37,338. Meanwhile, 29,943 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients from the fish market (34,279) clusters have been discharged from hospitals.
As of yesterday morning (28), the flight QR 668 from Qatar with 16 passengers, the flight UL 1264 from Saudi Arabia with 02 passengers, the flight 6E 903 from India with 18 passengers have arrived. The flight UL 102 from the Maldives with 05 passengers, the flight PQ 555 from the UAE with 150 passengers and the flight UL 186 from Pakistan with 04 passengers are expected to arrive here within the day. They all were/were to be referred to Quarantine Centers (QCs), managed by tri-services upon their arrival after formalities at the airport.
As of yesterday morning (28), 5,595 persons in 74 tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. Around 11,060 PCR tests were conducted only during the day December 27.
